WE ARE CONTINUING TO STUDY THE BOOK OF JOHN, CHAPTERS 15-21 FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY
MEDIA MINISTRY
Village will be featured this Sunday, February 6th, and next Sunday, February 13th, on KDIA 1640 AM at 3pm. Be sure to listen.
This is the year of practical evangelistic outreach for our church. As already noted in this newsletter, KDIA is featuring our church for two Sundays this month.
The Media Team has been in negotiation with the Radio Station. The vision of your pastor is to add this Radio ministry as one avenue of our outreach and evangelism in 2011. Will you support this vision?
What will our involvement in Radio land do for our church in the area of evangelism?
- Expose the Bay Area to solid biblical teaching in the word.
- Reach many souls for Christ. More than 70,000 people listen to this station every week.
- We move our evangelistic method into the modern age. We already have a website, we are working on a blog, we are on facebook, and now...we move into the Radio ministry. Our goal is to also be on public TV before April. The public TV will cost us nothing but the dedication and volunteer work of our media team. These are the modern 21st century outreach tools!
- We reach out to people who may never come to a church to hear the gospel.
- People are more aware of the ministry of Village Baptist Church.
- Use Radio as a very powerful tool of our commitment to the Great Commission. We cannot be a great church until we aggressively obey and carry out the Great Commission.
This ministry will cost us something so I am asking for the commitment of all covenant members who can support this ministry with at least $2.00 per week. I know that many of you, beside your tithes, are committed to other ministries in our church but THIS IS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY to give to the ministry and extend the kingdom of God.
Please let the pastor know if you are willing to commit to this outreach ministry for one year.
Shalom!
Pastor Akognon

Water Time
You may have seen this before, but here’s a reminder:
Correct Time to Drink Water....Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!
Drinking water at certain time maximizes it's effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

Calling All Mothers with Young Kids...
This is your opportunity to have some time to yourself. Every second Saturday of the month from 6pm until 10 pm, we have child-care available for FREE (for the members of Village Baptist).
This month it will be at Jessica’s house in San Rafael. Please let her know if you plan on dropping off your kids so she can prepare for them.
Any questions or concerns, please ask Rosalind

DIRECTORY UPDATES
We are in the process of updating our church’s directory. If you are a member of Village and you WOULD LIKE TO BE INCLUDED, we will have forms available to complete or update all of your information in the next 2 weeks.
Even if your information has not changed since the last directory, we are asking that you still fill out the sheet.
It will be assumed that you would prefer not to be included if the form is not filled out after being made available for a reasonable period of time. We will not be taking pictures this time around.
We will give copies of the updated information for all who would like to have them. You can put them in your current directory, if you have one, or start your own.
Please see Freda or Gina if you have questions. The forms will be available in Petaluma as well.
WOMEN’S MINISTRY
Hello Women of Village and Friends,
I (Rosalind) will be hosting the Women’s meeting in the month of March 19th at my home in Novato. Time: TBA
We will be discussing the book, “The Shack” by WM. Paul Young. It is a WONDERFUL read about Jesus, the Father, the Holy Spirit, and how they work together. It will make you laugh out loud, and will bring you to tears as it shows how much God truly loves us
Please read and plan on attending the Women’s meeting in March, and let's have a GREAT time talking about what you got out of the book.
Please ask Annette about February's meeting. Once again, I am only speaking about March right now so you will have time to read the book.
Enjoy the read,
Rosalind

Hello Church,
We will be having the next food giveaway on Saturday, February 19th from noon to 3. Please continue the generosity in gifts that you showed last month. Please bring canned goods if you intend to bring food. We welcome both food and money, and we will need volunteers as well. If you have any questions, please let me know.

HOMEGOING CELEBRATIONs
*Most of you are already aware that Gina’s Mom, Bonnie Weigel, passed on Wednesday morning, February 2nd in North Dakota. Bonnie was responsible for many articles and blurbs in our church’s newsletters. The Pastor and I will certainly miss many of the e-mails that she sent out almost daily. Please keep Gina, her dad, George, and the rest of their family in your prayers.
*Please be in prayer for Reggie & Sherryl as they have traveled to Georgia for the funeral of his Aunt Hazel. Reggie pointed out that she was key in helping to raise him, and was the eldest sister of his Mom, Veronica and his Aunt Minnie. Please pray for their family, and their safe return as well.
Hiring
PG&E is hiring gas utility workers. If you are interested, please e-mail me at doogiemay@hotmail.com and I will forward the information to you since it is pretty lengthy. You may also speak to Juanita Douglas for more information.
Hymns vs. Choruses
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYMNS AND PRAISE CHORUSES
An old farmer went to the city one weekend and attended the big city church. He came home and his wife asked him how it was.
"Well," said the farmer, "It was good. They did something different, however. They sang praise choruses instead of hymns."
"Praise choruses," said his wife, "What are those?"
"Oh, they're okay. They're sort of like hymns, only different," said the farmer.
"Well, what's the difference?" asked the wife.
The farmer said, "Well, it's like this. If I were to say to you, 'Martha, the cows are in the corn,' well that would be a hymn. If on the other hand I was to say to you, 'Martha, Martha, Martha, Oh Martha, MARTHA, MARTHA, the cows, the big cows, the brown cows, the black cows, the white cows, the black and white cows, the COWS, COWS, COWS, are in the corn, are in the corn, are in the corn, are in the corn,' well, that would be a praise chorus."
Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice of Love…

Obeying the Lord in Christian Financial Responsibilities
As we prepare to offer Financial Management Seminar to the body I would like to remind all of us of one very fundamental truth: Jeremiah 29:11 has direct relationship with Philippians 4:19 and Proverbs 3:5-6.
The plan of God for our lives is inextricably tied to our knowledge of God and therefore, our level of trust. We must first establish a genuine relationship with God in order to follow his plan for our lives.
It will not do you any good to attend this stewardship and financial responsibility seminar if you are not open to God's will for your life.
Matthew 6:33 says, “and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.” (New Living Translation).
A true and growing believer knows that the material things he has belongs to God and they are on loan to him as a STEWARD-MANAGER. We are to
understand that all belongs to God—not just in our “talk” but also in our “walk”-- and we are going to give an account to God one day. God is the owner and we are the manager. Don't let God fire or discipline you as a bad or disobedient manager.
To God Be the Glory!
Pastor
Financial Seminar - Saturday, April 24th - 9 am - 3 PM - More details to come.
Giving
Let us hide away our charity—yes, hide it even from ourselves. Give so often and so much as a matter of course that you no more take note that you have helped the poor than that you have eaten your regular meals..

WHO WAS I?
Last month you were given some clues to figure out who the mystery person was. Gina Doumate answered correctly. Connie got pretty close with her answer, Etienne Douglas, but not quite close enough.
The clues were:
- Sometimes high, sometimes low: (her job, construction)
- Close to pip? Er, I don’t know: (Deacon Piper-her son, Etienne)
- Once in shipyard, now canal (She moved from Marin City to the Canal)
- Blue gas burner, that’s a pal (her truck is blue)
- With freedom hero, shares a name (Frederick Douglas)
- Seven in first, in last, the same:

Whose Battle?
…If we are indeed contending for truth and righteousness, let us not tarry till we have talent, or wealth, or any other form of visible power at our disposal; but with such stones as we find in the brook, and with our own usual sling, let us run to meet the enemy. If it were our own battle we might not be confident; but if we are standing up for Jesus and warring in His strength alone, who can withstand us? Without a trace of hesitancy let us face the Philistines; for the Lord of hosts is with us, and who can be against us?
Charles Spurgeon
SAVE THE DATE
The Management Team wants you to be aware that on June 13th we will be celebrating our Pastor and Wife’s Appreciation Service at 3:30 p.m. right here at The Village Worship Center. We are asking your cooperation in your annual giving for this occasion. As in the past we are asking all adults to give $100, all youth who are working to give $40 and all others to please give $20 towards this appreciation. Naturally any other gifts, cards, flowers you want to give directly to our Pastor and our First Lady you are welcome to do so but we want to appreciate them as a church with a monetary gift that represents the entire church.
Thank you,
Your Management Team Members
THE BIBLE BOOKS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL ARE:
2 PETER & JUDE
BULLETIN BOARD
The Pastor has given Janice King the responsibility of deciding what information should be placed on the church’s bulletin board as you enter the sanctuary in Marin.
If you have any announcements, please see her first so that she can determine if it is appropriate information to be placed on the board, and if so, she will put it on display for the appropriate time limit.
IDENTIFYING FRAUD
I received an e-mail from Sis. Carolyn Logan regarding 2 attempts from individuals in the name of Bank of America, to fraudulently solicit personal information from her and an elderly woman. She immediately called B of A and they responded by sending the following information.
Some things to keep in mind regarding fraudulent emails:
- Unlike phishing emails, we will never ask you to verify personal information in response to an email.
- Most fake communications convey a sense of urgency by threatening discontinued service.
- Many fraudulent emails contain misspellings, incorrect grammar, and poor punctuation.
- Links within the fake email may appear valid, but deliver you to a fraudulent site.
- Phishing emails often use generic salutations like “Dear Customer,” or “Dear account holder” instead of your name.
- The address from which the email was sent is often not one from the company it claims to be.
- You may already be aware of these things but pass the information on to others may not be, especially the young and the elderly.
TAKING CARE OF GOD’S HOUSE
*Please keep in mind that our Church’s sanctuary is not the place where we can just drop off all the things we don’t want. There has been a lot of clutter and un-necessary garbage being left in different areas, and these things can be fire hazards, not to mention just plain unsightly.
Please check the coat rack and the area around it for missing items. If they are
there for more than 2 weeks, they will be taken to the Good Will or Salvation Army.
*We are also aware that our children love to bang on instruments, and we are taking steps to make sure they have an outlet during worship. So Parents, we are asking you that you please not allow your children to play with the drums, congas, etc. before or after worship unless they are being worked with by one of the adults.
Thank You!!
