Shola Akognon I have been at Village all my life. So I guess I've been a member all my life. I made a serious commitment to Jesus at age 14. My call to ministry came early in life, but I responded to it early January of 2003. Here at Village I lead the Mission team and Drama team. I play keyboards for worship, teach Sunday school and Children’s Church, and a lead youth group on Friday nights. I live in Petaluma, California. I graduated high school, and I'm now at The Santa Rosa JC. I am also a member of a Christian rap group called Cross Carriers. |

Mickele Carpenter I am originally from Memphis, Tennessee and I have lived in San Francisco for the past 7 years. I have been a member of Village Baptist Church since 2001. Having to deal with the stigma of being a “PK” - preacher’s kid - and growing up in the Bible Belt, I struggled with the call to ministry for many years. God removed me from my comfort zone and challenged me to face my fears and I ultimately answered the call to ministry in 2001 and was licensed by Pastor Akgnon in January of 2002. In addition to serving as an associate minister, I co-teach the Young Adult Sunday School class. |

Gina Doumate Gina was born and raised on a small farm in North Dakota. Upon graduation from the University of North Dakota, she moved to the Bay Area where she worked in the insurance industry. In July 1994, Gina accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at Village Baptist Church. Gina accepted God’s call to the ministry in 1996 and was licensed to preach the Gospel of Christ in September 1996. In October 1998, Gina traveled with a missions group to the Republic of Benin, West Africa, for the ground-breaking ceremonies of a hospital that was built by the church. She felt the Lord’s calling to mission work and moved to Africa in July 1999 where she ministered, evangelized and started a church in the village of Aklampa, Benin. That church remains and continues to grow today. She remained in Africa until February 2001. Gina recently released a memoir about her time in Africa, titled "Into the Darkness, Memoir of a Mission". Gina’s burning passion for the body of Christ is to recognize the great value of waiting in the presence of Almighty God so we can receive clear direction for our ministries and lives, and produce lasting fruit for the Kingdom of God. To that end, she began The Gathering of the Hungry nearly two years ago. This ministry of worship-based prayer combines scripture reading, worship, and prayer which leads to an unusual prayer adventure unlike those seen in many churches today. In addition to facilitating The Gathering of the Hungry and other prayer times, her service at Village Baptist Church includes being a Sunday School teacher and Maturity Team leader which oversees all educational branches of the church including Cell Group, Sunday School and Children’s Church. Gina's secular profession is a client solutions consultant for Lawson Software, an Infor affiliate. In addition to her university degree, Gina has taken numerous classes at the Southern Marin Bible Institute and has attained two professional designations through the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In her spare time, Gina enjoys spending time with family & friends, reading, and arts and crafts. Gina has one daughter, Hannah. |
