2026 Mission Trip To Benin
2026 Mission to Benin and Nigeria

This summer, Village Baptist Church is preparing for our 2026 mission trip to Benin and Nigeria. Our desire is to serve communities, strengthen local churches, and share the love of Christ in practical and powerful ways.
Through this mission, we will focus on youth outreach, pastoral training, clean water access, and restoring medical care through a local hospital. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with believers and communities in West Africa as we seek to serve faithfully and make Christ known.
What We Will Be Doing
1. Providing a Sports Camp for Youth Ages 10 to 18
We will provide a sports camp for young people between the ages of 10 and 18. Participants will include both boys and girls, and the camp will offer training and instruction in several sports, including:
- Soccer
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Shot put
- Javelin
Our goal is to serve 150 young people through this sports academy.
The on-field training will take place over three days. After that, we will hold two days of educational sessions, including information about scholarships for student-athletes.
This camp is a way to invest in young people, encourage discipline and teamwork, and open the door for meaningful conversations and ministry.

2. Strengthening Local Churches Through Evangelism and Discipleship
A major part of this mission trip is strengthening local churches through evangelism, discipleship, and leadership training.
We will be training pastors and church leaders so they can continue building a strong network of churches in Benin and Nigeria. By investing in leaders, we are helping equip churches to serve their communities, make disciples, and proclaim the gospel faithfully.
We also plan to provide housing for pastors from Nigeria who would like to attend the training.

3. Digging Another Borehole for the Community
We are also working to help provide more clean water for the community.
Aklampa has a population of about 65,000 people spread out across five major villages. A previous borehole was built near the hospital, and this year we plan to dig another borehole in a different part of the village.
This will help provide more access to clean water for families and residents in the area.

4. Restoring the Hospital’s Role in the Community
We also want to help restore the hospital’s role in serving the community.
The facility needs significant repairs, and we plan to invest about $5,000 in renovations this summer. These renovations will help prepare the hospital to begin regular weekly operations again.
Our plan is to begin by offering services one day per week to residents. This is an important first step toward making the hospital a helpful and active resource for the surrounding community once again.
